Whole School Overview
Curriculum
All children in school study the core (English, Maths, Science and Computing), and foundation (Music, Geography, History, PE, Art and Design Technology) subjects of the National Curriculum. RE is also compulsory study but not a National Curriculum subject. The school’s curriculum policies are based on the National Curriculum requirements and divided into two key stages (1 and 2). Reception class (or Foundation stage) follow a program of study based on ‘Early Learning Goals’ with areas of experience within this stage.
At Lady Elizabeth Hastings C of E Primary School we are developing our own broad and balanced curriculum to fit our context as a Christian school with high expectations of out pupils.
We want our curriculum to be exciting and stimulating, enabling our children to move on with the knowledge and skills which will ensure they succeed at secondary school. To do this, they will need to be engaged by their lessons and have the opportunity to be involved in activities which develop them as citizens. We also aim to care of their wellbeing, giving them the tools to look after their own mental health.
Through all this, we want to weave the golden thread of our Christian ethos, inspiring, nurturing and challenging our pupils.
