School Uniform

We are very proud of our smart school uniform and we wear it with pride. Our uniform can be purchased from;

Reception children:-

Grey school trousers, skirt or pinafore, white polo shirt (and elasticated tie if you wish) a burgundy school logo jumper/cardigan, grey, black or white socks or tights and black school shoes.

Years 1 to 6:-

Grey school trousers, skirt or pinafore, white cotton tailored shirt or blouse, tie (mandatory) a burgundy school logo jumper/cardigan, grey, black or white socks or tights and black school shoes.

In winter months, plain, flat, black ankle boots are permitted.

In the summer term

Grey school shorts, and a polo shirt (no tie) or a red/burgundy summer dress and white ankle socks

No open toe sandals due to health and safety concerns please.

We do not allow;

Nail polish, jewellery, earrings (except one pair of safety studs) attention seeking hairstyles, hair gel, closely shaved hair including tram lines and patterns. etc. tattoos/transfers. We ask that all long hair is tied back to avoid spread of headlice.  Watches are allowed to be worn once a child can read the time.

Children should not bring toys to school. We also insist that pencil cases (in Reception, Years 1, 2and 3), stationery items and fashion bags are not brought into school. We do not have room for the storage of these items and they also create unnecessary distractions and competition as the latest ‘fashion’ accessory!

Bags

LEH Book bags and drawstring PE bags should be purchased from the SPT Uniform shop on Garforth Main Street. Children should avoid bringing any other type of bag to school as cloakroom space is limited.

PE Kit

Our PE kit is very simple and is worn without exception from Reception through to Year 6. Clothing will vary according to whether children are working indoors and outdoors.

Each child needs; trainers, plain black shorts, a plain white polo/t-shirt top and a change of socks.

A grey tracksuit is also required when it is outdoor PE. Grey tracksuits with the school logo are available from the uniform shop or children can wear a plain (no sports markings) grey tracksuit.  A named bag with a drawstring should be provided to keep PE clothing tidy.

In Key Stage 2, your child may have the opportunity to go swimming and therefore will need to bring a towel, one-piece swimming costume/swimming shorts (no longer than thigh length).

Clothing Allowance

If you have difficulty in providing your child with essential items of uniform or footwear, please see the Headteacher. Funding is available through the Lady Elizabeth Hastings Education Trust. All requests are treated in the strictest of confidence.

STIKINS - Name Labels / Lost Property

Please make sure that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name, including pumps and shoes. As we all know, lost property is a problem in all schools and I am sure we are all familiar with our child, at some point, coming home from school with a missing item. We have therefore teamed up with STIKINS NAME LABELS to offer parents the opportunity to purchase quality labels for your children’s school uniform, whilst earning the school commission at the same time! This money can then be used to continue to help purchase some of the fantastic resources that benefit our children’s learning. Where items are clearly labelled, we return them to your child without delay. Otherwise they end up in our Lost Property Box and children deny all knowledge of ever owning such items! As parents, we are aware that time is precious, which is why we think these labels are such a great idea; they simply stick onto the clothing wash label. They can even be used in shoes! Naming of clothing is a school requirement and we are hoping that with this opportunity we can start to eliminate some of parents’ and teachers’ frustrations that surround these issues.
